Cancellation Policy

Consistent attendance supports effective therapeutic work. This policy is in place to protect appointment availability for all clients and to maintain the sustainability of the practice.

Notice required

At least 24 hours' notice is required for all cancellations and rescheduling requests. This applies to both telehealth and in-person appointments.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a fee of $[xxx]. Appointments missed without any notice will be charged the full session fee of $280.

Cancellation fees are not eligible for Medicare or private health fund rebates.

How to cancel or reschedule

Exceptions

I understand that genuine emergencies happen. Exceptions to the cancellation fee may be considered in the following circumstances:

  • Medical emergencies requiring urgent care (documentation may be requested)

  • Sudden illness that makes attendance impossible or clinically inappropriate

  • Unforeseen critical incidents

If you believe your situation warrants an exception, please contact me as soon as possible.

Repeated cancellations

If you are finding it difficult to attend appointments consistently, I encourage you to raise this with me directly. There are often practical or therapeutic reasons behind attendance difficulties, and these are worth exploring together rather than leaving unaddressed.

Repeated late cancellations or missed appointments may prompt a conversation about scheduling, barriers to attendance, or whether the current timing of therapy is working for you. In some cases, it may be necessary to release a regular appointment time or consider a referral to a more suitable service.

Financial hardship

If you are experiencing financial hardship that affects your ability to pay a cancellation fee, please speak with me directly. These situations are handled with discretion.
